The Honourable Minister Of Defence Flags Off A (3) Day Seminar On Protecting Nigeria Defence Infrastructure

The Special Guest of Honour (SGOH), Honourable Minister of Defence  Mohammed Badaru Abubakar CON mni has just flagged off a Three(3) day seminar with the theme “Protecting Nigeria Defence Infrastructure: The Roles of Emerging Technologies” at General LEO Irabor Multi-Purpose Hall, Defence Space Administration, Obasanjo Space Center-Abuja.

The seminar was scheduled to enlighten participants on the tremendous rise of cyber-attacks and cyber-crimes on both government and private owned organizations which are a few of the negative threats of emerging Internet Technologies (IT) in the world at large. Hence, the need to acquaint and share vital information on the level of these threats and mitigation method on these emerging sophisticated technologies.

In his remarks, the Honourable Minister of Defence (HMoD) Alhaji Mohammed Badaru CON mni urged all to participants to participate earnestly and share best practices and expertism on methods to combating the immeasurable rise in cyber-attack and crimes. Believing that the fight against these threats will be mitigated if some of the emerging sophisticated technologies in government and nongovernmental organizations in Nigeria are taken into consideration and put to good use.

Honourable Minister Mohammed Badaru further complemented the Chief of Defence Space Administration (CDSA) Air Vice Marshal AA Shinkafi for a well packaged seminar. He thanked the CDSA for inviting him as the Special Guest of Honour to grace such an auspicious event and also commended the entire DSA Directors, Principal Staff Officers, staff of DSA amongst others for their relentless effort in ensuring the smooth conduct of the Seminar.

In his welcome address, the CDSA AVM AA Shinkafi expressed gratitude to the HMOD for honoring his invitation, imploring participants to pay kin interest on topics discussed and additionally take active part in the interactive session to help develop the existing facts in Protecting Nigeria Defence Infrastructure. He enjoined the participants to build friendship and partnership that will ultimately confront and combat the enormous defence and security challenges confronting the country.

He further added that in “leveraging on the recent advancement in many cutting edge technologies, the DSA in collaborations with its technical partners such as NASRDA, NIGCOMSAT, DRDB and AFIT ventured into many Research and Development projects some of which are on display today.” The CDSA extended his appreciation to the President Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support towards Armed Forces of Nigeria in general and DSA in particular.

Order of the event are as follows;  The Welcome Address by the Chief Host, the SGOH Opening Address, presentation of Souvenir, Exhibition Tour, Group Photograph, Departure of the SGOH and then to the Seminar Day 1 Lectures proper,which were delivered by revered professionals from the Directorates of Cyber Security and Communication Satellite respectively.
