a. The Defence Space Administration has made significant contributions to National security through its Geospatial Intelligence Fusion and Data Center. One of its key achievement has been the Production of over 640 topographic maps. These maps have been instrumental in supporting various security operations across Nigeria, aiding the identification of illegal refining sites, enhancing monitoring of military zones, and improving border security. The Nigerian Airforce and other security agencies have utilized these maps in their efforts to combat insurgency, banditry, and other criminal activities.
b. The Defence Space Administration has independently carried out satellite tasking from its Abuja Facility. The Mission Planning Unit and staff from the Geospatial Intelligence Fusion and Data Centre (GIFDC) recently received new hardware and software installations. This upgrade includes comprehensive training on satellite imagery tasking and acquisition, now fully accessible on the Defence Space Administration's local servers.
