The Defence Space Administration (DSA) successfully held the Combined Graduation Ceremony of the Strategic Space Systems Immersion Training and the Capacity Building and Productivity Enhancement Training on Thursday, 26 June 2025, at the Gen Leo Irabor Multipurpose Hall.

The Capacity Building and Productivity Enhancement Training, which targeted support personnel and staff of the Administration, was conducted from 28 April to 15 May 2025, with a total of 80 participants in attendance. Similarly, the Strategic Space Systems Immersion Training, which commenced on 19 May 2025, concluded on the same day as the graduation ceremony, bringing both programmes to a successful close.

Participants were drawn from the Defence Space Administration, Defence Intelligence Agency, Army Headquarters, Naval Headquarters, Air Force Headquarters and the Defence Research and Development Bureau. The training is a direct reflection of the unwavering commitment of the Chief of Defence Space Administration (CDSA), Air Vice Marshal LI Oluwatoyin, to building a well-equipped, knowledgeable and future-ready workforce.

In his opening remarks, the Training Coordinator, Commodore CE Anuge (Rtd), expressed deep appreciation to the CDSA for making capacity development a cornerstone of his leadership agenda. He noted that through numerous completed trainings, ongoing development programmes and many more planned initiatives, staff across various directorates have experienced measurable improvements in skills and performance. He further explained that the training was strategically structured and expertly delivered to ensure a seamless and impactful learning experience. He also announced that the best projects from the programme would be considered for publication in reputable national and international journals.

The event featured technical and strategic presentations from both the Support and Operational Staff Groups. Topics presented included The Design and Development of DELROCK25, Enhancing Development and Application of Space Technology through Collaboration and a Mock ITU Filing for Orbital Slot Coordination, among others.

Following the presentations, the CDSA presented certificates to participants, facilitators, and awarded trophies to the best-performing teams from both the Support and Operational Staff Groups.

In his closing remarks, the CDSA, Air Vice Marshal LI Oluwatoyin, commended all 135 participants for their dedication throughout the training period. He praised the Support Group for their project on space technology collaboration and emphasized that the Operational Groups’ project designs hold significant potential for practical implementation if adequately supported. He urged all graduands to apply the knowledge gained in their various workplaces, assuring them of their readiness and capability to contribute meaningfully, stating, “You are already experts—everything is achievable.”

In recognition of the CDSA’s visionary leadership and commitment to human capacity development, the team of facilitators, represented by Air Cdre Darlington E Abdullahi (rtd), presented him with a commemorative plaque of honour during the ceremony.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Flt Lt MY Jasawa on behalf of the participants, followed by a group photograph.
