DIRECTORATE OF LAUNCH SERVICES AND SPACE OPERATIONS HOSTS THE JUNE EDITION OF DSA MONTHLY SEMINAR SERIES

Directorate of Launch Services and Space Operations hosted the July edition of the Defence Space Administration’s Monthly Seminar Series with the topic ” Strategic Rocket Launch Capabilities and National Security in Nigeria: The DLSO in Perspective.

The seminar commenced with an opening remark by the Director of Launch Services and Space Operations, Air Vice Marshall ED Yinkere. In his opening remarks, the DLSO expressed his sincere appreciation to the Chief of Defence Space Administration for such a privilege to host this month seminar series.

Afterwards, Mr. Okenyi George Uche and Miss Umar Salamatu Agaitu from the hosting Directorate presented a detailed paper on “Strategic Rocket Launch Capabilities and National Security in Nigeria: The DLSO in perspective. The paper evaluated the rocket launch capabilities, efforts of the DLSO in strengthening the indigenous rocket capabilities as well as providing a framework for technical operations.

The seminar dovetailed into an interactive session. The panellists for the interactive session comprised the moderator, Commander CE Agbo, two discussants: Engr. (Dr.) Adeleke Adekunle, a guest discussant from Nile University of Nigeria, Mr. George Dafuroibi Fineface from SIDC Epe and the presenter.

The interactive session enlightened participants on the challenges confronting the rocket launch capabilities and the panelists gave insight into the participants’ questions and cleared gray areas.

The seminar came to an end with a closing remark by the representative of the Chief of Defence Space Administration, RAdm K. Mohammed who commended the Director of Launch Services and Space operations and the entire directorate for a well detailed and articulated paper. He further said it is a strategical call to national security.
