In a move to deepen inter-agency cooperation, the Chief of Defence Space Administration (CDSA), Air Vice Marshal LI Oluwatoyin, led a delegation of senior officers from the Defence Space Administration (DSA) on a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The team was warmly received by Engr Abraham Oshadami, Executive Commissioner of Technical Services, who stood in for the NCC’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Aminu Maida.

During the visit, AVM Oluwatoyin expressed gratitude to the NCC leadership for their hospitality and commended the Commission’s efforts in fostering indigenous capacity and managing Nigeria’s complex telecommunications ecosystem. He provided a concise overview of the DSA’s organizational structure and its operational directorates, while identifying key areas for collaboration, particularly in spectrum management and frequency interference both critical to the success of Nigeria’s satellite programs.

Highlighting the strategic importance of human capital, the CDSA emphasized that building local expertise is essential for Nigeria to attain self-reliance in satellite development and launch capabilities.

In his response, Engr Oshaelami acknowledged the DSA’s strategic role in National development and praised AVM Oluwatoyin’s commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships. He identified cybersecurity as a vital area for joint action, stressing its growing importance in securing Nigeria’s digital and space infrastructure. To enhance operational efficiency, he recommended the designation of focal representatives from both agencies to facilitate seamless communication and minimize bureaucratic delays.

The meeting ended on a cordial note with an exchange of official souvenirs and a group photograph, symbolizing the start of a strengthened and mutually beneficial partnership between the DSA and the NCC.
