In a bid to strengthen collaboration in the Nigerian space ecosystem, the Chief of Defence Space Administration, Major General PO Ilodibia paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency, NASRDA, Dr Matthew Olumide Adepoju on Friday November 14, 2025 at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
Major General PO Ilodibia in his remarks appreciated the DG NASRDA for the ongoing support and stated that there’s a need for further collaboration between the agencies in the areas of satellite development, data sharing and space-based intelligence to support National Defense and disaster management.
The CDSA further highlighted the Administration’s desire to have military payloads on the additional Optical and Synthetic Aperture Radar Satellite which the agency has already secured approval for while also seeking joint collaboration in Research and Development activities, infrastructural development, human capital development as well as reactivation of the joint coordination team between the agencies.
The Director General of NASRDA, Dr Olumide Matthew Adepoju who warmly welcomed the CDSA reaffirmed his agency’s commitment to supporting the Defence Space Administration’s activities. He emphasized the potential for joint research projects, training programs, and knowledge sharing initiatives that could benefit both organizations while also highlighting insecurity as a major challenge in the Agency’s vicinity.
The visit which marks the CDSA’s first official outing since his assumption of office underscores the importance of the agencies’ collaboration particularly in the areas of space exploration and development in national security and disaster management.
