The Chief of Defence Space Administration (CDSA), Air Vice Marshal LI Oluwatoyin, on Tuesday 23rd September 2025 received the Acting Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Space Agency (KSA), Brigadier Hillary Kipkosgey, on an official visit to the Defence Space Administration (DSA) Headquarters in Abuja.
The high level engagement began with a comprehensive briefing on the activities of the DSA, delivered by Lieutenant Commander ZB Maigida. The presentation outlined the Administration’s mandate, organizational structure, contributions to Nigeria’s National Space Policy and Programme, and ongoing innovations. It served to acquaint the visiting KSA delegation with the strategic role of the DSA within Nigeria’s defence and space architecture. The session evolved into an interactive forum, allowing both delegations to exchange ideas and identify possible areas for bilateral collaboration.
Representing the Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Mrs Lamin Ali, Director of International Cooperation and Linkages, delivered a goodwill message. She conveyed the DG’s warm regards and commended the DSA for facilitating the visit. Mrs Ali emphasized the longstanding partnership between NASRDA and the DSA, and reaffirmed NASRDA’s commitment since 2001 to strengthening space capacity across both civilian and military domains.

In his remarks, Brigadier Kipkosgey expressed appreciation for the warm reception and highlighted the shared vision between the KSA and DSA. He noted that while the Kenya Space Agency was originally focused on civilian applications, its mandate has expanded to support National Defence initiatives. The visit, he said, reflects a deliberate effort to build stronger ties with Nigerian space institutions and to foster long term cooperation.

Responding, AVM Oluwatoyin welcomed the Kenyan delegation and underscored the growing importance of African led partnerships in the space sector. He emphasized that with sustained collaboration, Africa has the potential to emerge as a significant player in the global space arena.

The visit concluded with a guided tour of key DSA facilities and a commemorative group photograph.
