The Directorate of Cyber Security DCyber is mandated to Defend the Nation against cyber Attack of Significant consequence, Monitor and Defend MoD,DHQ,AFN and other sister security agencies networks and Provide needed cyber effects in support of combat forces through R&D.

About the Directorate
The Directorate of Cyber Security (DCyber) was established at DSA in 2015 to pioneer cyber security related activities in the AFN. It is headed by a Director with 3Deputy Directors in Response, Protection and Research & Development.
Roles
a. Prevent and give early warnings on cybersecurity breaches.
b. Analyze and react to incident of cyber breaches.
c. Detect and identify new technical forms of cyber threats.
d. Operate the Defence Computer
Emergency Response Team (CERT)and
the fusion center.
e. Defend AFN critical infrastructure
f. Research, develop and implement cybersecurity requirements, innovation and programs.
g. Launch cyber attacks with capacity to deceive, deny, disrupt and destroy if necessary information and systems of the adversaries.
Achievements
a. Identification of cyber threat actors in various AFN theatres of operations.
b. Proactive identification and mitigation of various cyber threats targeted at the Armed Forces of Nigeria digital infrastructure, including CNII.
c. Development of cybersecurity tools in support of the AFN.
d. Development of cybersecurity awareness publications for the AFN and security agencies of Nigeria.
e. Conduct of CERT drills and cybersecurity awareness training, including seminars and workshops for the AFN and other security and law enforcement agencies in Nigeria.
f. Winner of the hackathon contest organized for security and law enforcement agencies by Global Accelerex in 2018.
