The Chief of Defence Space Administration, Air Vice Marshal LI Oluwatoyin, was conferred with the prestigious ‘Pioneer Award’ in recognition of his groundbreaking efforts in Nigeria’s space sector. This honour was bestowed on him during the opening ceremony of the “Nigeria 25 years in space” celebration held at the Banquet Hall, Aso Villa, Abuja on November 25th, 2024.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, represented by the Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, declared the week-long event open, acknowledging the remarkable progress made by the space sector since the establishment of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) in 1999.
Other notable awardees include AVM TV Udoh (rtd) who was the pioneer Chief of Defence Space Administration, Cdre CE Anuge (rtd), Brig Gen RE Hedima amongst others.
The event featured goodwill messages, the launch of the Nigeria Space Digest, exhibition and entertainment.
