DSA Leads National Push for Cyber Readiness at 2025 CERT Drill….

The Defence Space Administration (DSA) on Thursday, 4 December 2025, hosted its Second Bi-Annual Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) Drill at the Administration headquarters marking another decisive step in strengthening Nigeria’s cyber Defence posture. The theme of the event is “Operation Cyber Sentinel: A CERT Offensive and Forensic Readiness Exercise,” the event brought together cybersecurity professionals, observers, and participants from multiple security agencies and parastatals for an intensive day of collaboration, training, and simulation.

In his opening remarks, the Director of Cybersecurity, Rear Admiral OA Adeleke, underscored the strategic importance of robust cybersecurity frameworks in protecting national assets. He noted that the CERT Drill remains a vital platform for fostering synergy among security stakeholders committed to securing Nigeria’s digital space.

The Chief of Defence Space Administration, Maj Gen PO Ilodibia, delivering his address , described the drill as a significant milestone. He emphasized the growing global demand for cyber resilience and urged participants to take full advantage of the exercise, given its direct link to national security imperatives.

Providing deeper insight, the CERT Drill Team Lead, Mr Royal Eke, outlined the objectives and scope of the exercise. He highlighted its focus on sharpening participants’ skills in digital forensics, offensive cyber operations, and network security. He added that the drill also serves as an assessment of institutional readiness to detect, respond to, and neutralize cyber threats.

The highly competitive simulation segment saw participants grouped into teams labeled A through F. After a rigorous set of forensic and offensive tasks, Group D emerged victorious, securing the top position in the 2025 Second Bi-annual CERT Drill.

The event reaffirmed DSA’s leadership in advancing Nigeria’s cybersecurity capacity and its commitment to building a digitally secure nation.
