The DSA Clinic recently held a health sensitization lecture on hypertension, aimed at educating administrative staff on the causes, risks, and effective management of the condition.
The lecture, titled “Sensitization on Hypertension,” was delivered by Captain VN Okeibunor, who emphasized that hypertension is a progressive cardiovascular disease capable of damaging critical organs if left untreated. He outlined key preventive strategies, including regular physical activity, weight management, smoking cessation, moderation in alcohol consumption, and the adoption of healthier dietary habits such as the DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet.

Participants were also enlightened on correct blood pressure measurement techniques and the importance of routine monitoring and strict adherence to prescribed treatment plans.
An interactive session followed the lecture, moderated by Flying Officer OB Ayeni. The session featured expert insights from a panel comprising Dr. Nweno Emmanuel, Nurse Osayuki A. Omogun, and Pharmacist Babangida Kabiru, who addressed questions and shared practical guidance on hypertension prevention and control.

In his closing remarks, the representative of the CDSA, Brigadier General Kubianga, commended the DSA Clinic for the initiative. He urged all officers and staff to prioritize discipline and healthy living, stressing that awareness and preventive lifestyle choices are crucial in reducing the risk of hypertension.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Wandate Kathrine on behalf of the DSA Clinic staff.
