‎DSA and NCA Explore Collaboration Ahead of 2025 International Conference

‎The Defence Space Administration (DSA) on Wednesday, 23rd July 2025, hosted a courtesy visit from the Nigerian Cartographic Association (NCA) at the DSA Headquarters in Abuja.

The NCA delegation, led by its National Chairman, Professor Momoh Lawal Rilwani, introduced the association as the professional body for map makers in Nigeria, founded in 1978 to advance the science and practice of cartography in national development.

During the visit, Professor Rilwani highlighted the synergies between the association’s cartographic expertise and the operational activities of the DSA. He further sought the DSA’s support and participation in the association’s forthcoming International Conference themed “Geospatial Mapping for Good Governance, Poverty Alleviation and Security Management,” scheduled to hold from 8th to 12th September 2025 at the National Space Research and Development Agency.

In his remarks, the Chief of Defence Space Administration (CDSA), Air Vice Marshal LI Oluwatoyin, warmly welcomed the delegation. He emphasised the need for DSA staff in the Directorate of Earth Observation to become active members of the NCA to ensure continued institutional support and to promote cross -fertilization of ideas for national development. The CDSA expressed optimism over future collaborations between both organisations.

Also speaking at the event, the Director of Earth Observation, AVM AA Suleh, reiterated the CDSA’s remarks, noting the long-standing relationship between the DSA and the NCA. He emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration to enhance national geospatial capabilities for security and development purposes.

The visit featured exchange of souvenirs and signing of the visitors’ book. In his closing remarks, AVM Oluwatoyin appreciated the NCA team for their visit, expressing hope for strengthened cooperation in the future.
