DEFENCE SPACE ADMINISTRATION HOLDS THE MONTHLY LECTURE SERIES – AUGUST EDITION

The Directorate of Communication Satellite successfully hosted the August edition of the Monthly Lecture Series on Thursday, 28th August 2025, at the Irabor Multipurpose Hall.

The lecture, themed “Building a Resilient Communication Network Infrastructure for Military Operational Efficiency: The Directorate of Communication Satellite in Perspective” commenced with an opening address from the host director, Maj Gen ES Mustapha, who emphasized that the resilience of communication is not only a technical necessity but also of strategic importance, as it ensures seamless information flow and serves as the backbone of military operations.

The lecture was delivered by Engr Hyacinth Ijamanta and Mr Omoleye Olabode, both from the host directorate. Their presentation defined resilient communication networks as interconnected systems of technologies, protocols, and support facilities designed to maintain continuous, secure, and reliable information exchange, even in the face of environmental and operational challenges. They further highlighted how redundancy, adaptability, and recovery mechanisms enhance resilience in military communication systems.

An interactive session followed the paper presentation. The panel, moderated by Lt Cdr FO John, featured Mr Daniel Jekunnu, Mr Joshua Alawiye, and Engr Hyacinth Ijamanta. They addressed questions from the audience, provided clarifications, and expanded on critical aspects of resilient communication.

In his closing remarks, the Chief of Defence Space Administration (CDSA), AVM LI Oluwatoyin, urged participants to prioritize cyber preparedness as a vital component of national security, stressing its role in safeguarding military operations in the digital age.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms Grace Joel of the host directorate, who expressed appreciation to the CDSA, the Deputy CDSA, Directors, and participants for their presence and contributions.
