The Directorate of Cybersecurity (DCYBER) hosted the August edition of the Defence Space Administration’s Monthly Seminar Series, focusing on the topic “The Emergence of Cyber Warfare and Its Impact on Military Operations.” The lecture served as a follow-up on the topic “Leveraging Emerging Cyber Trends for Enhanced Protection of Critical National Information Infrastructure.”
In his opening remarks, Rear Admiral SH Yahaya, the Director of Cyber Security, emphasized that Cyber Space has become the fifth domain of warfare, highlighting the new challenges this domain presents.
The lecture featured a detailed presentation by Mr Henry Ekanem, a Cyber Security Analyst from the host directorate, gave in-depth insights into the emergence of cyber warfare and its significant impact on military operations.
The lecture transitioned into an interactive session moderated by Commander GA Oladesu. The panel featured two discussants, Mr Igniatus Shija and Mr. Abdulmalik Ibrahim, both from the host directorate alongside the presenter, Mr Henry Ekanem.
During the interactive session, the panellists engaged with questions from both on-site and online participants, further enlightening the audience on the critical issues discussed.
The lecture concluded with closing remarks from the Chief of Defence Space Administration, Air Vice Marshal AA Shinkafii as he offered insightful comments on the importance of addressing the challenges posed by Cyber warfare and commended the Directorate of Cyber Security for their efforts in organizing a successful and impactful seminar.
The event was honoured by the presence of Dr. Sanusi Muhammad, Director of Artificial Intelligence and Space Robotics, and Engr. Dr. Felix Ale, Deputy Director of the Department of Engineering and Expert Systems at NASRDA. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Miss Pamela Chinyere Onyedinma, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants . Lastly, a group photographs inside the hall.
