The Defence Space Administration (DSA), through the Directorate of Finance and Accounts, has organised its August 2026 Monthly Lecture Seminar on the theme,“Financial Readiness: Investing Beyond the Pension.” The seminar was aimed at equipping personnel with practical knowledge of investment opportunities to support financial stability during and after active service.

The seminar commenced with a welcome address by the Director of Finance and Accounts, Group Captain EA Okeke, who appreciated the Chief of Defence Space Administration (CDSA) for his support towards the programme. He encouraged participants to maximise the knowledge gained from the seminar and apply it to their long-term financial planning.

Delivering the lecture, Alhaji Salamu Zubairu, sensitised participants on the pension scheme and various investment options available within the Nigerian financial market, including Treasury Bills, Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Sukuk, corporate bonds and money market funds.

He further highlighted key factors to consider before investing, such as the purpose of the investment, individual risk appetite, investment duration and the credibility of the investment provider. Participants were also advised on identifying investment risks and red flags that could lead to financial losses.

The seminar featured an interactive panel discussion moderated by the Deputy Director Budget, Captain (NN) MU Nasiru, with Hon Godfrey Daniel and Mr Abdullahi Kolawole Busari as panellists. The session provided participants with an opportunity to seek further clarification on investment and financial planning.

In his remarks on behalf of the CDSA, the Director Policy Plans and Research, Major General I Otu, commended the resource persons and panellists for their practical contributions. He urged personnel to put the knowledge acquired into practice, stressing the importance of starting early, prioritising financial goals and reducing unnecessary expenditure.

The seminar concluded with the presentation of souvenirs and a group photograph.
