Air Vice Marshal Lanre Ibrahim Oluwatoyin was born in Ilorin South, Kwara State. He was enlisted into the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of the 39th Regular Course. AVM Oluwatoyin is a holder of a Bachelor of Science Degree (Honours) in Mathematics from the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy. He went on to obtain a Master of Sciences Degree in Space Management from the International Space University France, Masters of Philosophy from Bangladesh University of Professionals. Additionally, he holds a Certificate in Satellite Orbit Engineering and Satellite Ground Station Equipment Management both from China Academy Space Technology. The CDSA has attended several courses among which are Basic Officers’ Engineering Course at the Air Force Institute of Technology Kaduna, Type Rating Course on Alfa Jet Avionics, Orientation Course in Educational Theory and Practice from the Institute of Education, University of Jos, Ab-initio Flying Training Course at 301 Flying Training School, Training workshop on Conflict Management and Resolution at the Centre for Management Development, Satellite Antenna Control Maintenance Course at North-West China Institute of Electronic Engineering Xian China, Civil Military Operation Course as well as Technology Incubation Course – National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM) at OAU Ile-Ife. The erudite senior officer attended the Junior and Senior Staff courses at the prestigious Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji as well as National Defence College, Dhaka Bangladesh for his Defence Course. Before his appointment as the CDSA, the Senior Officer was the Director of Technical Services at Headquarters Defence Intelligence Agency, other appointments held include; Principal Engineer – National Space Research and Development Agency, Acting Head of Department – Strategic Application Department at Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd (NIGCOMSAT) Abuja, Director Space Technology and Director Information Technology both at Headquarters’ Nigerian AirForce and Director Earth Observation – Defence Space Administration. He was also the Commander 151 and 153 Base Services Group Makurdi and Yola respectively. It is pertinent to state that, the senior officer is a Member of the National Space Institution, Member American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Fellow Chattered Institute of Computer Forensics. AVM LI Oluwatoyin is happily married with children. In his free time, he enjoys reading, travelling, playing computer and indoor games.
